1986 Corvette fender hoses unhooked – what is this part?

      1986 Chevy Corvette 5.7L TPI. I see the hoses to this thing in the fender are not hooked up, but honestly I’m stumped as to what it is. What is this? Need to know if I should figure out how to hook it back up!

        Fuel vapor canister, stores fuel vapor while parked to prevent evaporation pollution.

        You probably wouldn’t notice it, unless your garage strongly smells of gas. There is a vacuum hose that connects to it. You would want to be sure it’s not sucking air.

          Just a charcoal cannister, you don’t need it.

            Just looks like a charcoal canister, if so it’s not necessary is it bypassed now? Can’t tell from pic, red circle blocking it a lil.

              Charcoal canister… it’s the vent for your fuel system. People think if you disconnect it, then the car will go faster.
