Thinking about snagging a 2005 Mazda with 171k miles for $2K cash—should I go for it or nah? It’s not a dream car or anything, just something to zip around town, hit the grocery store, and make life easier. Feels like a decent deal, but I don’t wanna get stuck with a money pit. What do you think—worth the gamble, or should I keep looking? Honest opinions only, y’all. Would you roll the dice on this ride?

Some of these cars were flooded during the hurricane so if I were you, I would do a very, very thorough inspection.

3500 nobody wanted for a 20 days. Then he lowered to 3000. And ready to take 2000. Something is there that a guy wants to sell lime that. Cash? Lol. If no cash how would you pay? Credit car or finance?

Honestly- the reliable and 2000 doesn’t go in one sentence. Like another guys said – get low expectations.

It’s not always about the car, take a look at the seller. Look at his other listings, buyer ratings, is the title in his name, if yes, for how long? PAY for an inspection from a local mechanic.

It’s around $100 but could save you $1,000s by making the right choice now.

I happen to like those vehicles but people are often dishonest, so watch out.

We have a 2012 Escape, it has 170k, V6, fully loaded. We’ve had it since 133k. Very problem free with regular maintenance. If you get it, I would make sure you check plugs and drain/fill the trans.

Seems like a good deal, specially if it’s AWD. Ours gets about 25mpg on the high side.

If it’s been in FL all it’s life then you don’t have to worry about rust much. Luckily, that’s the big issue on this car (and all it’s badge variants).

Go into it with low expectations and maybe do a transmission fluid drain and fill.

                Good luck!

Had an 06 for quite a while almost exactly like that and I loved it.
