Hello! My friend is having some problems with her 2018 Honda Accord. She’s taken it to the Honda dealership 3 times, and they won’t help because it’s not throwing a code.

      1. One: Car is overheating after 10–15 mins while driving. Coolant reservoir keeps going empty but no obvious leaks.
      2. Two: Car is cutting out really bad feels like a misfire but won’t throw a code.
      3. Three: Starts cutting out the second you go to acceleration.
      4. Four: Checked the coolant reservoir today and now there’s little gold flakes mixed in with the coolant.

Is this a lost cause, or does this sound familiar to anyone!

      Thank you in advance!

The coolant system needs to be pressure tested to find the leak. The gold flakes in the coolant is likely some sort of stop leak, so the system will need to be flushed as well.

As for the other issue, your friend needs to make sure battery cables are tight and free of corrosion.

Need to test battery and replace if needed (low battery voltage can wreck havoc on newer vehicles). She also needs to check her oil level to make sure it isn’t low or contaminated.

Dealerships are kinda useless sometimes, try some independent mechanic shops, someone should be willing to actually look for the problem.

It’s a blown head gasket. Normal for these accord. Take it to another dealership Also have them do a A/F test with there DST-I scam tool. Injector problem too.

            Hope this helps.

The Dealer couldn’t figure this out? If it’s not visibly leaking coolant, it’s burning it.

All those symptoms point to a bad headache gasket but would actually need proper testing to see what is causing those symptoms.

Sounds like a head gasket. You’re actually burning coolant. Dealers are garbage. Go to a reputable independent mechanic.
