Hey, I need a hand with something. I cleaned the spark plugs on my HR15, and now it cranks but won’t start. Anyone have an idea what’s going on? Could it be something simple, or am I missing a bigger issue?

If it was running before you cleaned them, my guess is either you damaged the plugs, or didn’t plug a coil pack back in.

You should NEVER clean spark plugs. Plugs now a days are NOT thick enough to clean. If you have a misfire, normally you have a bad ignition coil. If your plugs are THAT bad, replacement is the only option.

My guess is you ground off the end of the electrode and ruined one or more of the spark plugs.

          Don’t clean, buy new ones.

Pull the plugs, check the gap and see if they’re in spec.

Easier to replace em than cleaning, cus as other had mentioned – you could’ve damaged the electrode.

Never use a wire brush to clean spark plugs as it will leave a path to ground on the insulator…

Mind have done the same, but I changed the sparks plugs fully, including the ignition coil. After all back didn’t want to start, I give up that day, next day I tried again started on second try, since then no problems what so ever. Mine was a happy case I guess, hah

1st off, never clean Iridium or Platinum Plugs~!

2nd It RAN before you touched it, so cut your losses and bring it to a Qualified Trained Repair Technician to Diagnose and repair what you damaged or did wrong.

I’m no mechanic of automotive, but I think you might have sensor issues. Only because I did all the above on my Altima. And… sensors. Good luck!

Make sure your wires are running correctly in correlation to the firing order of your distributor. 1-1 2-2 ect

Unless you are dealing with a 1990s or older vehicle, you do not clean spark plugs and rarely need to change them in the lifetime of an engine unless you have other problems causing them to fail.

Well did you spray starting fluid in the carb throat if it runs and dies then you have a carburetor problem.
