Best car scanner suitable for most cars to read fault codes? Something on a budget, nothing expensive or anything that require subscriptions please.

The best and cheapest full function scanner I know of is the Otofix D1 lite. Hands down the best bang for the buck in the business at 300$.

A code reader really desn’t give you squat aside from panic attacks every time you google a code without live data.

If you really wanna see anything and everything in your car AND more importantly WHY you’re seeing it, spend the money.

I’d make that off of you in 2 trips AT MOST if you called me out to diagnose it.

Is there a scanner that would tell you the location for a bad ABS sensor?

You really need to put a dollar amount on your budget.

What’s your budget? They range from $20 to $20,000.

What type of cars and how deep do you want to go? Some newer cars, you can’t scan anything without some type of subscription.

OBD2 code readers are readily available with hard cables as well as Bluetooth dongle and apps, they will pull OBD2 codes from any vehicle sold in America as it is a required standard.

It’ll pull engine codes only and can be had for a steal.

If you want data and bidirectional control, you have to get more specific about your needs and price point.
