      I have a question. I own a 2018 Kia optima.

Somehow I forgot to turn my car off. So it was idling for 10 hours. Could there be any damage to the engine for idling for so long?

I mean. No, but how do you forget to turn off the car? It’s not exactly silent.

Only damages to your wallet for the gas that you wasted. I still would take it out for a nice long drive after idling that long.

We had a Hyundai Elantra 1.8L and my mom left the keys in it and running all night into the next day. Didn’t hurt a thing.

It will be fine, optima’s never really gave any trouble when I worked at Kia.

As long as it didn’t over heat there should be no adverse effects on the car.

Shouldn’t do. Could be problems with a build up.of water and acid in the sump, if the thermostat was not fully closing and letting the engine get up to operating temp. I would be taking it for a brisk 30min drive up a freeway somewhere.

If the check engine light is not on, then you are good.

I do it all the time for 12 hours at a time with A/C on, it doesn’t hurt it.
