I have a 2005 Toyota Camry that has some severe clear coating damage, but it’s a solid car. It has 198k. I’m getting it for a reasonable price. What is a cheap way to fix this? Repainting the car with Maaco will run a couple thousand, not planning to do that. Not planning to sell for what it’s actually worth due to the sun damage. But any suggestions would be appreciated. Not posted is the sun damage to the sides and top of the car. It’s bad.

Let it go AS-IS and move on to the next one.

You’ll never repair that correctly there’s no cheap way I do my own auto body and paint work on all my flips just clean it up real nice and sell it as is you’ll be fine that car is not worth a full paint job.

Wet sand it, apply Poppy’s Patina wipe on clear coat. Polish up

This is a subprime unit. No.one is going to care about clear coat. That being said you’ll still make a nice profit as is.

I’ve had luck with wet sanding the clear peel VERY gentle like, the throwing some protective over it to shine it back up.

I’d say either send it, or just Wet sand it. Then wipe on clear coat, or any gloss protection coating

You just need to find a small local shop. I have 2 dealerships I do work for like this, and I’d only charge no more than $700 for a sand and shoot, I even wetsand and buff if it needed it.

Buy some sandpaper and a cheap spray gun from harbor freight and a small 6 gallon pancake compressor of you don’t have one already and sand and clear coat it. Don’t forget masking tape and plastic.

Rub it with transmission fluid or some good tire shine, then wipe off the excess.

List it for KBB price and see what happens. Many people buying older cars expect them to be sun damaged.

You need to find a cheaper paint body shop that’ll do it for around $500 to $700. Maybe suggest to them to paint the roof, trunk, hood and bumpers and do a good buff on the doors and sides. They’ll probably do that cheaper.
