Hey, quick question! Anyone know why the turnover rate for Traverses is so high? I really like them, so I’m kinda wondering what’s going on. Any insight would be awesome!

Once they get some miles on them: timing chain, timing phasers, HVAC issues, steering issues, body modules and communication issues. On top of transmission problems.

            Trans and engine fail.

Traverses are terrible! Had one that timing chain had to be replaced 3 times, then had engine issues (only 160,000 miles when engine went) complained at the Chevy dealership that this shouldn’t be happening with timing chains and then engine.

Chevy wouldn’t do anything about it. (Car always maintenance & oil done at Dealership) Dealership mechanic said this is very common issues and Chevy has no plans on ever doing recalls on it.

Never buying Chevy again. Husband has a Kia optima that has almost 600,000 miles never did anything but oil changes, battery, starter once and still going (now Kia replaced motor free at 300,000, so new one has about 300,000 miles on it now) have a Kia Sedona going good and Kia also replaced engine on that free without a hassle or anything. All brands of cars will have their issues, but I go for the ones that do something about those issues, Chevy does not.

When did this page get overrun with kids that think they’re mechanics? They’re not that bad if you take care of them. I’ve been a mechanic since long before they came out, and people loved them until they became secondhand and got neglected. Seriously, though, y’all kids should keep your opinion to yourself if you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. Your whole 20 minutes in the industry doesn’t mean s***.

The first couple years they were reliability nightmares. After that they’ve gotten more reliable, but they’re still really underwhelming. It’s the crossover you buy because you won’t buy the minivan, even though it’s worse than a minivan. Families outgrow them quickly, they’re not spectacularly reliable, and literally all their competition is better than them.

I have a terrain with 315k miles. 3.0l bought new.
                    One AC evaporator under warranty
                    One high psi fuel pump,
                    One set sparkplugs,
                    One belt, idler,
One set of brakes and wheel bearings.
Runs like a top. Never touched transmission.
                    Never had any other issues.

Chevy can make a decent looking car. They just can’t make a good, reputable engine for their cars anymore. People don’t maintain them. Plastic junk to meet their fuel standards, timing issues, they are just not worth having.

Because they’re a hot pile of garbage plagued with expensive failures. They’re worse than euro cars.

There’s a difference between liking them as a consumer and liking them as a mechanic. Lots of consumers like them. And hell, lots of people’s mechanics like them cause they’re making a killing off of them, lol.

Turnover rates on cars can be pretty high, since most people lease cars they can’t afford to buy.

Great car if you like replacing the transmission and do not mind tow trucks and repairs.

Because they are crap vehicles. At around 100k miles, they are basically hot potatoes that no-one wants to be holding.

Higher maintenance cost, timing chain failure, random leaks. Mosty from people not keeping up maintenance and oil changes. The mechanical high pressure fuel pump cost is ridiculous just for the part, sensors fail a bit, transmission slips due to lack of maintenance. It just costs more to keep up with. Some vehicles are worse in cost like Mercedes, Audi, BMW, and dodge SUV’s with V6 motors 8-9 speed transmissions.
