So, I’m about to replace the oil pan on a Chevy Cruze 1.4 and everyone says you have to take the cat off, I really don’t see the need to just looking at it. Am I missing something hear? I’ll just take the nuts off, leaving the cat.
DonnaIt might be a good idea to run the engine and undo the cat bolts whilst still hot before you start, just in case (taking care not to burn yourself). Have some exhaust paste and or replacement flanges ready too.
LouisThe bracket for the cat mounts next to the oil pan. Manoeuvring the pan will be difficult with it.
CopacabanaThere’s always room for a shortcut.
CopacabanaThe pickup tube will not agree with your plan.
JeremyI don’t remove the cat just the flex pipe I have taken the clamp loose and th mount bracket and give it push forward sometimes but depends most of the time I don’t even do that.
JoshuaI just loosen the catalytic converter clamp and twist the converter so you have enough room to get the oil pan off.
