It’s just hard to believe the price difference and availability
I usually order through the dealer to eliminate chances of counterfeit parts but the parts I currently need are discounted and not available through the dealer or any sources yet RockAuto has the parts. I find it almost impossible they have new Gm parts for a fraction that nobody else can get or has available. Makes me question if they’re actual GM parts.
JoeI’ve ordered a lot from RockAuto, just make sure you check it as soon as it comes in. I’ve had them send me the completely wrong part (coolant line instead of a muffler) or faulty parts (O2 sensor) and as long as you catch it pretty quickly after receiving it they’re very good about getting the right part to you.
LeeroyI only use RockAuto. Love them and parts are great
TerryI personally haven’t had an issue, but my cousin ordered an exhaust part, and it was fabricated incorrectly or so I’m told, so just do your own research on what you’re buying, mostly successful.
EthanDepends what you are trying to get. I found aome ball joints on rock auto that were steel caged and instead of the plastic caged ones from a normal parts store, and they were cheaper than the part store. Really just depends on what you are getting.
MargaretI’ve used rock auto before with zero problems. The shipping can be expensive. 1A Auto is another good site for parts, and I’ve also used them with no issues.
GaryBig company, they won’t sell fake parts.
TristanI’ve had 2 issues (out of hundreds of times ordered)
1 adjusting sleeve for a 93 s10 came bent (could’ve happened during shipment)
And they slack on the magnets sometimes
RockAuto is my go to for my parts for my cages, especially my g20SteveThey are an excellent parts source… You just have to buy good brand parts, oem stuff they carry is genuine. Even after shipping they are cheaper than local parts stores.
JayI use Rock Auto with no issues.
JohnI have got electronic parts from them like alternators that were no good and had to eat the cost of installing a second one from a local parts store.
JamesNever had an issue with parts I bought from them. My go-to unless the part stores here have a comparable price, which isn’t often.
GordonI have very rarely had any problems with any parts online or local. Wheel bearings. I recommend getting the premium ones because our roads are rough.
JoeNever had an issue, I also love carparts and parts geek. And recently found a-premium haven’t had any issue with their parts.
ChristyRockAuto and 1A are my two go TOS. Never had an issue. Had to do a return to 1A. Simple and seamless.
WesleyI haven’t had any OEM parts from RockAuto not be OEM.
LanceI have bought several parts for years, and they are fine one one issue that I have heard of! And that is returning stuff! Be very sure that you have the correct part because it’s a nightmare to get your money back!
RexParts are good and reliable, but you have to make the choice on cheap …oem……or upgrade….the biggest issue with RockAuto is shipping and lack of customer service when stuff gets lost which has been happening alot lately…..been dealing with them over 15 years, and it’s getting real bad on the shipping end
RyanThey actually own I believe it’s united discount auto which is why they came out of nowhere and already had warehouses full of parts and I have used them countless times and have never had a single issue and I have bought oem parts.
You would be shocked on how much the dealer upcharges on stuff.
My dad used to work in the parts department for GM, and he said it’s crazy how much the dealer will upcharge people.
KenI’ve used them dozens of times with few problems, just make sure you order the right part because returning items can be expensive.
CliffordI’ve used RockAuto on many vehicles not once if I ever had a problem with any electrical struts even got a computer from them not once have I had a problem.
JohnI’ve used them for years
Great warranty too on most parts.
Only issue like everyone else says is shipping, but that’s not RockAuto fault
Shipping prices are crazy everywhere
They need to open warehouses local where you can pick up fromGordonI have bought a lot of parts from them without issue, but I always check my local supplier as they are sometimes equivalent price. I am a bit fussed that you cannot talk to someone on the phone, but customer service does respond to emails.
BubbaSo far I’ve got all the suspension and wheel bearings for my tiguan from them. Everything seemed quality. They’re economic, daily driver, and professional grade. I never got economic unless only option. They had high-end wheel hubs from timkin. All the parts fit. Everything went smoothly. Saved Thousands not going to a dealer. Alot VW stuff is dealer only, except RockAuto.
StevenThe price difference is due to not having a storefront with counter people to pay. They ship out from outlying warehouses, and I’m pretty sure a good bit of it is overstock, so it’s sold at a lower price. Buying parts in person significantly increases the price margins.
JeremyHad really good luck with them, only time they forgot to add stuff to my shipment, and they rectified it right away. I got ahold of them, and they had the part in the mail same day express shipped at no cost to me.
BrentHave installed Rock Auto parts on many customer vehicles, and on several of my own vehicles. Every single AC Delco part from Rock Auto has been a problem, and the warranty process sucks. YMMV.
GuyI’ve bought literally many hundreds of parts from RockAuto. And at all price points, too, from weird no name stuff to major name brands.
I’ve only had 2 defective parts, out of hundreds of items ordered. One ultra cheap ball joint was incorrectly manufactured.
One ultra cheap TPS didn’t work.
A couple of oil filters would not fit every car listed in their application, only some of them due to quirks in the oil filter manufacturing.
I had problems with my 2000 Volvo S70 parking brake. For whatever reason, Rockauto’s catalog listed parts for a different Volvo parking brake assembly as fitting my car.
I have never encountered a counterfeit part. Every part has been great quality…. except for the lockwashers for one ball joint. They were flimsy, so I used my own better ones.
Fwiw, I’ve had fewer problems with Rockauto than from my local auto parts store.
RobertThey sell OEM spec parts. That doesn’t necessarily mean factory parts (although they do carry them in some cases) it simply means the parts were, (supposedly) made for factory specs. This is why there are so many options for each part. You will notice a few different grade parts from the same manufacturer in many cases, especially suspension and u joints.
.that said, I’ve had very good luck with them. A couple of items were mis listed .but really not their fault. The numbers were exactly what the manufacturer had listed in their catalogs.
Some of the cheaper parts are AutoZone grade, as in wolk great in a beater car or one you are planning on getting rid of. Otherwise, stick with known brands (although lately, I’ve got a rash of bumn GMB parts after installing them for years without issues, again, not rock autos fault).
RobertNever had a problem with Rock auto, only a few parts have been oem but seemed very good. I have had things missing from my order before and immediately reported the issue to them, and they sent the missing part very quickly at no additional charge.
