What do people think about the 2.7L V6 Twin Turbo EcoBoost engine, specifically in the Fusion Sport?
I hear overall bad things about EcoBoost engines, but I hear fairly positive things regarding the 2.7, so I am conflicted.
I have pondered the idea of replacing my current Fusion (3.0 v6, super reliable w/ 192k) with a Sport when the time comes, but I want to make sure it won’t constantly leave me stranded. It doesn’t have to be Corolla level reliable because I can wrench a little & I’m okay with seeing a shop on occasion, but I certainly don’t want it to be as bad as a Kia 2.4 GDI.
NickSteer clear of anything American at this point.
Rusty2.7 is the most reliable EcoBoost. Change the oil on time and it will treat you good.
AlyNever heard bad things from my friends who have the fusion sports. Kia’s are horrible, anything is better than them.
RobIDK about the fusion sport but I had to do a frame swap on a 4 door bronco that got hit and really not a fan of the engine design and how these manufacturers no longer use exhaust manifolds, and it’s integrated into the head, the engine. The turbos are smaller than shit and make the T25 on my 30-year-old Nissan motor look massive. It was also a pain making brackets and shit to swap it into the new frame, since we didn’t buy that shit from Ford.
JonathanIn general, turbo charged is always going to be less reliable than non turbo. More moving parts = more wear and maintenance.
In general, if you are looking for reliability, 99.9% of American cars loose to Toyota badly.
RichardWe have it in our bronco. Read same as you.
25k on it so far, so not much to note yet.
