Any mechanical advice. I have this 5A engine Corolla that stalls when braking and sometimes when idling. What could be the problem? I’ve changed the computer box, timing and throttle body but still stalls. Any tip or advice. I’ve tried different mechanics.
ChrisStall at idle, first thing I would check is make sure fuel is getting to the engine. Obviously it will while the throttle is engaged, but that could be the fuel filter, fuel pump or even injectors not allowing fuel into the system.
RandleVacuum leak?
LanceSounds like the brake booster could be leaking! Plug it off and see!
ScottSome of those older Toyotas have an oring seal between the brake booster and the master cylinder. Sometimes it’s on the pushrod assembly, and a rusty pushrod can ruin it.
I would separate the master cylinder and brake booster and check/replace any seals between the two, and clean any surfaces those seals go against.
BesticanaffordCheck your vacuum booster and its hose. A leak in that big line can easily cause this.
