Changed out stock oil pump with a meiling oil pump M365HV, changed o ring on the pickup tube & the spring, and started it up it’s reading no oil pressure, oil pressure warning light comes on & to turn off engine. You guys got any advice?
SethAlways make sure you prime the new oil pump before you have it started up. Always. It’s very important.
WesleyI always pack a new oil pump with petroleum jelly. When the internals are dry it has a hard time sulking oil through the pickup tube.
The other way would be to pressure lube the system. A garden sprayer with oil in it adapted to fit the oil pressure sensor port would work.
DavidAny engine that has a long pickup tube needs to have the oil pump packed with thin grease…and unless you changed your oilpan to hold more oil, you don’t need an HV pump.
SethDid you prime up the new oil pump before starting it?
Pull all plugs and make sure there is no power to the fuel pump by disconnecting a fuse or line, crank it up for 10 seconds, then let it sit for 10 seconds and then crank it again for 20 seconds.
It should prime it up.
LenardIf the engine sounds like it doesn’t have any oil pressure you might have a problem if you changed the oil pump because your gauge was reading no pressure odds are all that’s wrong is the sending unit on the back of the intake I change them all the time.
