Hello, I was hoping in of you could tell me what to do in this situation or tell me if I need to get to a mechanic asap. I drive a 2021 Chevy Malibu with 77,000 miles on it. My issues started off as when I would shift my car into park it would tell me it wasn’t in park, and sometimes I can jiggle the gear shift around, and it’ll go into park sometimes I have to fully restart the car and take it out of park and put it back. Then I had a thing pop up on my screen saying battery saver activated and then my check engine light came on and then when I planned to take it somewhere to run diagnostic it had already turned off. TIA!
InfinitiIf you can inspect *both ends* of your shift cable for a failed bushing, you may be able to get specific replacement bushings from the internet (parts store are generic).
KurtSounds like you might have a shifter cable issue, like the little plastic bushing might be worn out.
TonySo looks like you have 2 separate issues, there is a service message for the shifters to be replaced for the shift to park message.
The second part, I’d advise to have it scanned and see what the codes are if any, the way it sounds, maybe the battery was weak and possible threw a few low voltage codes, more than likely related to the first part of your problem.
