I’m looking at a car for sale on Copart. It only comes with a Bill of Sale, no title. I’m in Illinois. The car is in Washington state. Illlinois requires a title to register. Is it possible to get a title so I can register it in Illinois?
AndyThe Washington state BOS is the “title” Washington state has no salvage titles. They will issue a state BOS.
Illinois along with all the other states are aware of this and the state issued BOS can be used to surrender in illinois for a rebuilt title.
Any information besides this is wrong.
KerryJust steal your own car closer.
JamesIf the car was registered in Washington, you can find and contact the last owner. Who ever was last titled on the car can go get a new title at the DMV for like $35 and transfer it to you with the bill of sale for your home state. If you can’t find the original owner then you have to check lost title laws in your home state.
StephenCopart might also record the car as salvage with nmvtis
