Can I bleed ABS brakes without a scan tool by using vacuum?

So I’m working on a truck that has abs and requires a scan tool for bleeding the brakes. Currently, has a bad master (pedal drops to floor and can hear what sounds like blow by of brake fluid past the master piston).

I’m thinking I can get around using a scan tool because the master is above the abs unit.

I’m thinking I can achieve this by replacing the master while keeping the two lines upright to prevent as much from escaping as possible.

Once the new master is hooked up, I’m thinking I can pull a vacuum at the reservoir with it half filled, and it should pull any air out of the lines to the abs unit and in the master cylinder.

I know I’ve bled a clutch master cylinder this way on a newer mustang, as there are no bleeders in the system and book even says to bleed by pulling a vacuum on the master.

Assuming no air gets into the abs unit (which I believe will be pretty easy to achieve, as I mentioned the master is above the abs) and the vacuum at the reservoir pulls any air from there up, I should be good to go huh? Anyone ever done this, specifically with an abs unit.

And just to follow the rules, this is an 07 Nissan Titan, but the question is kind of a general one.

      Thanks in advance

I mean it’s achievable and worth a shot worst case scenario if it doesn’t work and you have no pedal is you find a shop and pay them to get it bled out. It’ll be meticulous but I once started where you’re at and you gotta do what you can with what you have to work with sometimes.

Bench bleed master then install & open lines one at a time 1/3 turn & bleed master–just don’t flip/hit the lines around.

I rarely need to use the abs bleed option and when I do, I don’t open the bleeder like it says. You can manually bleed the brakes, and it will most likely be fine.

How old is the brake fluid in the system? If it’s more than about 2 years old, this would be a good opportunity to flush the whole system with fresh fluid.
