Can someone tell me what gear I’m in? I know that’s a stupid question, but I was positive that I lost 3rd and 4th gear, so maybe it’s just the shift solenoids that are bad? 04 Chevy 1500 4×4 with a 4l60e transmission.

That’s second gear nowhere near third, I’ll post a pick.

I’ve only had second gear for about 2 months drive it everyday still just keeps on trucking.

Shift manually using the 3 2 1 to find out. Start on 1st shifting up as you go, when you get up to speed drop it into D and see if it shifts to 4th.

I would say 3rd and don’t waste your time changing the shift solenoids if you don’t know the service history of the trans as when you get it done and refill you will likely loose all the gears just have yours rebuilt if you plan to keep the truck unless you can find a proven rebuilt one on marketplace or something similar.

It’s never just the shift solenoids dude drop the pan and post a picture of what’s in the bottom of it, I’m almost 100 positive it’s gonna be black sediment from the remains of your 3/4 clutch’s.

Your glove box should have a sticker with codes on it. GT4 is 3.73 forsure.

Be a lot cheaper if you changed transmission’s now.

Mine at that RPM with 4.10’s in 3rd gear would be running close to 70 mph, so I’d say probably 2nd gear.

Probably lost 4th and ability to lockout 4th, so you’ve got up to third with lockout on third, next to go will be second probably, and you can run decently up to 60 with first, third and lockout, but you need to get over twenty in first to skip the shift to second. Went thru this with my Roadmaster with 4l60e.

If you have a 3.73 rear end like my brother’s 03 1500 that should be 3rd gear unlocked torque converter.
