Why do buyers want you to lower the price based on how far they have to drive? So annoying!

Ever wonder why some buyers act like your price should drop just because they live far away? Like, sorry you didn’t teleport here, but how’s that my problem? It’s wild how people expect a discount just ’cause they had to burn a little gas. Do they want me to Venmo them for mileage too? Honestly, when did distance start negotiating deals? Is it just me, or is that kind of logic totally backwards?

Just another tactic to get a lower price. But it does happen quite often.

          It’s a weak negotiation tactic.

Right.. lol. Also annoying is trying to get your bottom dollar so they can now offer 30% less then you say. I finally stopped giving a number and started saying I’m open to reasonable offers. Then they go ghost. Lol

lol I was just talking to my friend about this because HE is a low baller to cars he finds. It’s so annoying that he doesn’t get that his distance or “inconvenience” has nothing to do with the price of what you’re trying to buy.

My response is usually “I’ve gone further for less. It all depends on how bad you want it.”

For those who are buying and new to this group, this is the worst tactic. It totally sets you up to get fcked, besides the car seller not being able to take any offer from you seriously.

I’ve known others who’ll purposely agree to a lower price, have them come all the way out, especially if out of state, and then sell it to someone local right before they arrive stating they were offered more and then went ghost.

Buyers save yourself the headaches. Just pay list price or don’t offer, or buy local instead of far. If anything negotiate in person, never sight unseen.

I don’t block them or leave them unanswered, but I do agree it’s annoying, especially if it’s only a 30 minute drive, and yet everything I buy is normally much farther away. They always act like they are trying to do you a favor, or that you are missing out. They will always try to haggle more in person if you decide to take less on messenger too. I tend to tell them a price and to not show up with less or they will be disappointed. That normally works. They would have to explain to me in person why they think it’s worth less at that point, and no their drive doesn’t account for anything.
