My clutch started to slip about a week ago on my 2010 Scion tC, so I brought it to a shop to change the clutch out, and I drained my transmission fluid yesterday, what’s the verdict?

There is no trans fluid in a manual! Some take a little motor oil, but they do not take AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID bc it’s not automatic.

          There’s water in it.

Replace all the seals while it’s out.

Then put it back with fresh oil. It’ll probably be fine.

That’s a mystery, but good thing you spotted it. Only thing I can think of is years of unchanged oil and moisture maybe through the breather tube, or it was once in a flood and got in that way. Don’t pressure test a cooling system or anything like that.

That’s for automatic transmissions. Clean it out really good and replace it.

Drive it a few hundred miles and do it again until clean.

Water getting into the transmission. Best to not drive the vehicle until the cause is found and repaired.

Pressure test the coolant systems with the transmission cooler lines going to the radiator fully disconnected. That way, you know you need an external oil cooler or replace the radiator entirely.

May have to flush that trans out a few times and install an external trans oil cooler and hope the transmission is okay.

Make sure you get at least a 12″ x12″ oil cooler for it.

                Just a suggestion.

Hopefully the clutch disk packs survived.

I bought it like this, I’m not a mechanic, but I know where all the fluids go lol
