How much longer do the 08’s 5.3’s last? I got 198k miles on it. Change the oil every 3k miles with mobil 1 synthetic 5W-30. Owned it for two years. All that has been done to it was a tempature sensor, Evap canister, Valve cover gaskets (both banks) and cylinder deactivation solenoid. Right now, no check engine lights.
PS: GMC Denali
LouisYou would have an all aluminum 5.3 with DOD, but without VVT. I would recommend doing a DOD delete eventually. It’s a lot less money because you don’t have VVT. And have it tuned. Fuel mileage will increase.
MikeEach vehicle is different, it’s impossible to see the future to tell you.
HarryYou can save -a little-by stretching the oil change interval to 4,000 miles.
That said, if the piece of mind that goes with the 3k oil changes is worth it, you certainly can’t cause harm by doing that.
I guarantee your engine loves you.
Just don’t forget about the transmission and other fluids.
BuzzsawAbout 3 to 4 hundred thousand more miles if you take care of it.
DavidI have a customer over 400,000 and still going strong
GaryGood engine, worry about the transmission. Have you been doing filter and 1/2 fluid changes on schedule?
AlexFor ever and ever. The transmission is a different story, though. Install bigger trans cooler to stay at lower temps
CharlieYou’re going to need a timing kit and a trans fluid filter and change. Maybe come CV’s and suspension parts. But keep up on the maintenance and it will last forever. It’s a machine. Maintenance is key.
DavidI would buy an AFM deactivator. It will make it last longer.
