Hello, I have a question. I have a 2007 Hyundai Tiburon GT engine size 2.7. I need to get the water pump replaced. I was quoted $350 for labor only. Is this a fair estimate? I already have a lead to get the timing belt with the pump, along with the tensioner and pulleys. Also, the mechanic who gave me this quote told me that I need to replace a sensor, he didn’t tell my father-in-law which one. The mechanic is my father In-laws, so the communication has been through him.
KurtThat’s a good price for a friend I’d charge a little more if it was a customer if I was doing the belt water pump tensioner idler pulley I’d probably charge like 425 450.
RichardSounds cheap.
I take it you’re providing parts, they’re doing the install? Has some down sides, but if you trust the mechanic, give it a try.
ChgeorchThat is a good price for anything involving the timing belt.
DavidCalls for 3.2 hours flat rate labor so thats a lower rate than mine, and I’m the lowest in town. And that’s just for the water pump. So that labor is cheap.
RichIf you are pulling the cover and pump is behind there. Go by the manufacture recommendation of the stuff. Don’t go on Facebook and ask. You might save a few dollars the 10 k miles later all hell breaks loose.
