Hey guys! I need an honest opinion here, I’ve been saving up here and there for a nice ride for myself, and I managed to find myself in a pretty good situation in my opinion, but I’m not sure if it’s a good buy.

2010 Lexus ISF in pearl white. 123000km on the car (77000 miles) Car I would say is in 8/10 condition wise, there’s some cracks and scratches in the bottom front lip of the car (owner said it’s from the road and pot holes and such) and some very minor scratches just from use. 2 minor incidents in CarFax. But has all the recent work done on the car by Lexus dealership and over 10k of work done which is a plus. Some mods in it as well with tasteful tunes.

He’s asking 34000 CAD which is 24300 USD. Very little room for negotiation, which kills me even though I know it’s not a bad price tag to began with.

What do you guys think, I need genuine advice if possible? Worth it? How much should I pay? Keep in mind there’s 2 minor accidents in CarFax, but mileage is fairly low and some chips and scratches on the body but not bad over all!

It’s a 15 Y.O. 4-door sedan…you’re the flip. 4 doors are.only worth their utility/reliability value. People don’t collect sedans into the 15+ years, because they crash in value as they become more expensive to repair than buying new.

That car is free, you’re NOT the flip. I would be real careful about the ‘minor’ incidents. Research what to look for mechanically on these, and have a bodyshop do a previous paint/body/frame inspection. Just remember, according to CarFax, 50% or car shoppers click on ‘no accidents.’

Honestly, it sounds like a solid car overall. The mileage is low for the year, and if the $10K in recent work was done by Lexus, that’s a big plus. The scratches and small damage are normal for a 2010.

The two minor accidents aren’t a big deal if they didn’t affect the frame—just make sure everything checks out with a good inspection.

The price is a bit high, especially with the accidents and some wear, but it’s not crazy if the car is in good shape. Maybe try offering around $31K–32K. Even if he doesn’t lower the price, it could be worth it if you really like the car.

Just make sure the mods and tune were done right. Overall, seems like a strong option if everything checks out!

A few things…
1) Get it inspected
2) The backseats in that gen IS are unusable except for children, so keep that in mind
3) That’s a good price, so if it’s been sitting a while it probably has an issue

I’m Canadian, too – love any Lexus V8. That’s top dollar IMO, no meat on that bone if you’re trying to then flip it. The mileage cracked 100k KMS, and 2 hits on car fax…if it’s for you – it’s gotta be one of the best $32k daily V8s around.

It depends on which part of Canada is the car from/in. Did the Carfax stated it in BC?

I don’t compare car prices in CAD vs USD anymore becos of the exchange rate, and the US cars usually carry higher mileage.

Off the bat, if it’s outside the lower mainland, there would be risk of rust. If it’s a BC car and Carfax is presentable, I would offer $30K. Though, the owner would be happy to get $33K. Mind you, 2010 is very rare in Canadian market. Was it imported from the US?

A car like that can hide 1000 sins, as I found out on a Honda purchase. I’d risk only what you can afford to lose. Insurance claims, or a few major repairs that economically total the car.

From what I’ve seen stateside the ISF generally pull 30k+ when they’re 2010+ since that’s the year they added the LSD I believe, a friend of mine wanted one and finding clean sub 100k miles and sub 30k was pretty damn hard. I’d just do a through check since It’s still a decent amount of money you’re spending, if that ends up being real that’s a great deal for a car that’ll last forever lol

I see them around 20-25k in the states. They seem like awesome cars, though. Little more on the rare side. But I’d be concerned about rust in that region.

Hot take: these are bad ass cars, but they shouldn’t cost this much. Not sure the production numbers, but there’s a ton of them in my area, every couple days I see one.

Inspect it for signs cof dried coolant on the back side of the engine and on the bellhousing. These are notorious for the coolant plate in the engine valley leaking. Also check for timing cover leaks. Those are common and expensive.

I’d be on it like stink on shit. If you’re buying it for yourself, you can factor in whatever additional you would be willing to pay because you want it. Either way, it’s a good deal.

Those cars are something else. You can fix the cosmetic issues over time.

If I were in the market, I wouldn’t think twice.
