2005 Jeep liberty sport 3.7 v6 engine I keep getting the P0340 code, but I already replaced the camshaft sensor, I don’t know what to do?
MarkIs the new sensor a Duralast or Mopar? Use OEM only. If it is OEM, then change both CKP and CPS at the same time. Any sludge in the oil?
PedOh boy, another, codes don’t tell you what to replace, but the circuit that’s affected, troubleshooting is key step, one you jumped over
KurtJust because a code comes up in a sensor doesn’t mean the sensor’s bad, it’s doing its job and pointing you into the right direction to diagnose it.
This is people think mechanics don’t have to do anything, they think the car tells them what to do.
You’re going to need a good scanner and see if there are any other codes and check your fuel trim make sure the timing is on that’s not a guessing deal needs diagnostics.
JohnThe best way to understand what a particular code means is to look it up in service information. This is particularly important if you are considering diagnosing the problem yourself.
In the USA, you can get a 1-month subscription to the DIY version of Alldata or Mitchell for $20 for a month or $60 / $40 for a year.
These are the same sources of service information that many professional automotive technicians use.
I’m not sure about availability in other countries.
DavidSensors are cheap enough to give it a shot, but if that don’t work might need to know a little more.
