99 Silverado 1500 climate control stuck on heat… Changed the blend door actuator but once I plug in the blend door actuator it turns all the way right and the all the way left and stays like that… The controls don’t move it, and it seems like it just stops working, did it with 2 new actuators what could fix this? It’s getting hot, and I need my A/C.
ThomasMake sure that the blend door isn’t broken. If the actuator over travels because of a broken door, it will just stop once it gets out of range.
TonyySometimes you need to pull the fuse, wait about a minute and then put the fuse in, it recalibrates, OR you can rig it by leaving the actuator out and use a screw to leave it stuck on cold. Not stupid if it works!
JamesTry pulling the HVAC fuses under the hood think there are 3 or 4 of them leave out for a couple of minutes put back in have climate controls set to the middle on vent and blower speed low then turn the key on let it cycle for a reprogram for a couple minutes then see if it recalibrated.
AnthonyI had a similar issue with a Sebring. I simply wired the door in the open position.
KenI fixed all my Silverado electrical and other issues by trading it for a F150. 8 years trouble free now!
WilliamI had this happen in a 09 Impala I just took the actuator apart and used the gear to move the switch (hot, cold) some time it switched from road vibration I can only assume. Since nothing was hooked up.
RobbyMake sure it’s the right actuator. Manual climate and auto actuators look the same amd most parts places don’t double-check.
NedDon’t plug it up and watch it turn in your hand. It will damage it. They are different but look alike. It’s best to buy OEM. Bolt them in and then turn it on and off. Never out of it position.
SteveTry a hard reset. Disconnect the battery and hold the terminals together to kill any residual voltage. Wait 3 minutes, then connect the battery. Wait 2 minutes before doing anything! No key on, no nothing.
After 2 minutes, start the truck and wait another two minutes before touching anything.
HVAC will run through self calibration during this time.
EverettIt’s doing what It’s supposed to do.
My diag leads me to perform a temp dial check. Sounds like a bad temp selection potentiometer.
JeremySounds like the HVAC head unit is bad. Also, don’t plug the actuator in until it’s installed properly onto the door. Vehicles that old don’t need to be calibrated.
RobertBlend door actuators have a maximum travel in each direction. Don’t plug the actuator in unless you have it in place because you more than likely will damage it. Also throw away the Dorman trash and buy a GM actuator.
PatrickNeeds recalibrated, remove fuse for several minutes, reinstall fuse and turn key on .let it recalibrate before you touch any AC control.
George1st make sure you have the right actuator…they all look the same…make sure the pins where the connector plugs in ahev the same amount of pins and are in the same place as the old actuator.
GregYes disconnect the battery for 20 minutes reconnect battery.. have havc controls in the off position. Start engine do not touch havc controls for at least three to four minutes it will recalibrate to factory settings
