Hey, I need a hand with something. I’ve got a 2009 Dodge Caravan, and the code port isn’t working. Anyone know what the stuff around the radiator cap area actually means? Like, what’s going on there? Is it something to worry about, or just normal? Any insight would be super helpful!

      Thanks.

Is it glittery? I would say it looks like there is stop leak in the system.

If it is brown, you might have oil in the coolant, not good. Or it could be simply rust. Just the condition of the oil.

Flush the coolant and check after 20 miles.

If oil in again, most likely a head gasket.

I’ve seen this a whole lot on those vans flush it out and refill it, and it will be fine make sure you burp it because they can be difficult to bleed. It’s just old anti freeze that probably hasn’t been flushed in years, if ever. If it was overheating or running bad, then I would look into it further.

I’d say mixed incompatible coolants as well.

                Looks like stop leak.

I’ve seen the internals of the water pump flake off as a gold color before. Check for leaks at the weep hole or pull the belt and check for play in the pulley.

If you have a key for the van, you can insert the key and turn it on, off, on, off, on (all without actually starting it) n the codes will pop up in the odometer.

Bad oil cooler will do that as well.

I’d say first take a line off heater core see which way the flow is take a pressure washer or good hose with great water pressure and reverse the flow flushing coolant system for about 10 to 15 mins put fresh antifreeze in it if that’s stopleak or any other sealant it’ll flush it out which will find the original issue.

Agree with above, flush the system and replace the fluid. Should be the orange juice for that system if I remember correctly.

If the radiator cap on the bottom is covered in sludge, it’s a head gasket issue.

Check your aux fuse which we runs accessory plug in also runs DLC port that you plug scanner in and looks like bars stop leak for head gasket leak.
