Question: I have a 2008 Silverado 5.3. Oil pressure switch has died for the second time in 3 years. Oil level is good, no knock or odd sounds from the motor, drives fine. What would cause it to go? I run full synthetic. I’m assuming the screen is sludged up maybe, but trying to figure out if it’s just a bad part or is something else causing the issue?
SeanRun it without the screen. If the screen gets clogged or the sensor goes bad again, you’re doing the job anyways.
JoshMine goes every couple years on my 07 tahoe. I use ac Delco, but it’s pretty easy to replace. Just climb up in there and reach all the way back, and you can get it without taking anything off. I would recommend putting some tape on the socket so you don’t drop it because it’s been 4 yrs, and I’ve still not found that last socket.
CharlesDefinitely needs to be replaced with an AC Delco part. The aftermarket ones aren’t any good.
JohnDid you replace the tiny screen down in the sending unit hole?
Could be a crusty connector /wire: GMs are known for instrument pannel issues.
Can alway hook up a manual gauge and monitor actual oil pressure.
MikeIt’s a thing on the Chevy’s. If it isn’t an OEM part, it can be dicey. Check the connector and make sure it’s clean and has good continuity as well.
